Publisher QUByte Interactive and Brazilian development studio BlackHawk Games have announced the release of the psychological detective horror Beyond The Evil on the Nintendo Switch hybrid console.
Pure deduction instead of action
Following its release on PC, the game has arrived on modern consoles, offering an intense, intimate story. The main feature of the project is the complete absence of a combat system and inventory management in favor of purely deductive logic, forensic investigations, and tactile interaction with the environment.
The plot centers around private investigator Gary Nephew, who in 2019 responds to a call at a remote estate in Pennsylvania. On site, the protagonist discovers a gruesome crime scene and traces of secret laboratory research on a dangerous virus. With no weapons, Gary must rely solely on his intellect, attentiveness, and the help of his partner Lucas Smith.
Key features of the game:
- Forensic investigation: detailed examination of 3D locations, searching for evidence, and piecing facts together.
- Tactile interactivity: the ability to pick up, rotate, and closely inspect hundreds of items and notes.
- Clever puzzles: cracking safes, deciphering codes, and reconstructing the sequence of tragic events.
- Atmospheric horror: an emphasis on sound design, suspense, and the gradual unraveling of the mystery surrounding the missing Juniper family.
- Multiple endings: a moral choice at the climax unlocks one of two endings — happy or sad.
