Classic The Legend of Zelda Games Receive Native Ports for 3DS

Fans have created native ports of the iconic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and The Minish Cap for the Nintendo 3DS console.

In its time, the Nintendo 3DS received numerous ports and remakes of iconic games of the past; however, not all of them took full advantage of the console's capabilities. For example, the wonderful The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap from Capcom and Nintendo was available on the 3DS only as part of the Ambassador Program via the Game Boy Advance Virtual Console, without optimization for dual screens or the system's hardware.

Classic Link Adventures Get New Life on 3DS

The enthusiast community decided to right this wrong. Thanks to reverse engineering and fan efforts, two iconic entries in the series — The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap — have received full-fledged native ports for the Nintendo 3DS.

Advantages of Native Ports:

  • Flawless performance: the games run directly on the 3DS hardware without emulation lag.
  • Screen optimization: enhanced display and utilization of both handheld screens.
  • Extensive customization options: support for custom rendering settings and controls.

Such fan projects prove once again that even after the end of the Nintendo 3DS's official life cycle, the handheld console remains a favorite platform for retro gaming.
