Today, the space action roguelite Cat-Astrophy from independent Spanish developer Aarón Hernández was released on the Nintendo Switch hybrid console.
Feline Adventures Among the Stars
The main character of the game is an astronaut cat named Polo, modeled after the developer's real-life pet. The premise is quite simple yet full of challenges: the fluffy traveler finds himself lost in a hostile galaxy, and now he must survive and find his way home.
Gameplay Features
Cat-Astrophy combines precision platforming with classic roguelite mechanics:
- Permadeath: each run starts from scratch, with only star fragments preserved between attempts for permanent upgrades.
- Flexible combat system: the Star Cursor mechanic and various modules allow players to create unique combinations and synergies during each attempt.
- Dynamic movement: a blend of dynamic real-time combat, parkour, and the exploration of procedurally generated planets with alternative routes and secrets.
The game was created almost entirely by a single developer from Barcelona, and it is now available to all Nintendo Switch owners on the digital eShop.
