Phasmophobia Surpasses 30 Million Copies Sold

Co-op horror game Phasmophobia has crossed the mark of 30 million copies sold and launched its Crimson Eye Halloween event.

Co-op psychological horror Phasmophobia has reached an impressive milestone of over 30 million copies sold across PC and consoles since launching in Early Access in 2020. Studio Kinetic Games shared this milestone alongside the launch of the annual Crimson Eye Halloween event, which runs until November 1.

Crimson Eye Halloween Event

As part of the event, a "Blood Moon" weather phenomenon appears on daily rotating maps. It makes ghosts faster and significantly accelerates characters' sanity drain, while also guaranteeing higher rewards for completing objectives.

  • Players can unlock unique ID cards, badges, trophies, and cosmetic T-shirts through community and personal challenges.
  • From October 8 to 15, themed Twitch Drops are available for watching Twitch streams.
  • From October 15 to 22, double XP will be awarded.
  • From October 26 to November 1, the Ghost Hunts 4 Hearts charity initiative returns in support of the American Heart Association.

Plans for 1.0 Release and Switch 2 Port

CEO and game director Daniel Knight noted that he initially hoped to sell only 1,000 copies in the first year. The full 1.0 release is scheduled for the second half of 2027 — the developers plan a major overhaul of gameplay and ghost designs. As a reminder, in addition to current platforms, Phasmophobia is also expected to release on the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
