Massive Free Expansion Warframe: Tau Launches This December
During the Devstream broadcast, Digital Extremes officially confirmed the release of the free expansion Warframe: Tau in December 2026. For the first time in over thirteen years of the game's existence, Tenno will leave the Origin System and journey to the completely new Tau star system, which was previously only mentioned in the lore.
New Warframe and Story Locations
The massive update will bring a significant amount of new content for all players:
- New Brysko Warframe — the 67th playable frame, inspired by classic noir detectives and voiced by Matt Mercer. It can be unlocked for free through gameplay or purchased in the in-game market.
- Story campaign and locations — after completing the new story chapter, access will open to missions in the Perita and Fornax locations on the new Tau System Star Chart.
- Cosmetic items — new skins and customization for Koumei and Nezha.
The developers separately assured fans that focusing on the Tau system does not mean forgetting the Origin System. The update will be available on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch, this December.
