The Digital Foundry team has published its detailed technical analysis of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, testing how the collaborative work of Bethesda and Virtuos studios performs on Nintendo's new platform.
Graphics vs. Stability
Visually, the game looks quite appealing on Switch 2 and offers most of the graphical enhancements found on other current-generation platforms. However, performance remains the main issue.
Digital Foundry specialists highlight the following key nuances of the remaster:
- Oblivion Remastered still suffers from frame rate drops and crashes even on the more powerful PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles;
- On Switch 2, due to lower hardware performance, these technical flaws are much more pronounced;
- Constant micro-stuttering and an unstable frame rate can significantly spoil the experience of exploring Cyrodiil.
Players planning to dive into the updated classic on Switch 2 should be prepared for technical compromises or wait for future optimization patches.
