Issues with limited-edition console pre-orders
Today, October 29, marked the official release of the special edition Nintendo Switch 2 console dedicated to the iconic game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. However, the long-awaited launch has been accompanied by serious problems for many buyers.
Fans who expected to purchase the gold version of the console on release day without a pre-order were prepared for shortages due to batches instantly selling out online. However, it came as a surprise that difficulties arose even for those fans who had placed and paid for their pre-orders in advance.
Delays and cancellations at major retailers
Buyers are reporting widespread issues with receiving their orders from major retail chains:
- Giants such as Walmart and Target began notifying customers at the last minute about shortages of consoles and physical copies of the game in warehouses;
- Some pre-orders were automatically canceled without warning;
- Other buyers had their delivery dates postponed indefinitely due to logistical disruptions and device shortages.
The situation has sparked a wave of outrage among fans of the Zelda franchise who hoped to receive the limited-edition new release right on launch day.
