Studio Excellent Rectangle has announced the surprise release of its hockey game Tape to Tape on Nintendo Switch. The project combines 90s classic-style arcade hockey with modern roguelite game mechanics.
Build an Unbeatable Team
In Tape to Tape, players must take charge of a hockey team and restore the sport to its former glory. During each run, you will recruit new athletes, discover unexpected synergies between players, choose new skills, and even bribe referees with "maple syrup" when the rules stand in the way of victory.
Losing Is Just the Beginning
As is fitting for the roguelite genre, defeats are an essential part of progression. Between runs, you will visit the Blademaster to permanently upgrade your captain's stats and equipment.
Key Game Features:
- Deep roguelite campaign featuring numerous upgrades, random events, unique players, and boss battles.
- Fast, dynamic gameplay with realistic puck physics and rebounds.
- Unique visual style combining hand-drawn 2D sprites with 3D environments.
- Local multiplayer mode and cooperative play.
- Over 40 diverse teams, each with their own unique traits and playstyle.
Tape to Tape is already available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
