The Impossible Becomes Reality
The classic game Super Mario Bros. is already 41 years old, yet incredible activity still surrounds it. Speedrunners from all over the world have spent years trying to get closer to the so-called "perfect run," the theoretical limit of which is 4 minutes 54 seconds and 265 milliseconds (4:54.265). Previously, it was believed that such a time was achievable only by special computer algorithms (TAS).
However, human capabilities amaze once again. Recently, speedrunner LeKukie set an incredible result of 4:54.365, narrowing the gap to the theoretical limit to just 6 frames (about 0.1 seconds). But the competition did not stop there.
New Record by Niftski
Speedrunner Niftski managed to surpass the achievement and set a new world record, recording a phenomenal time of 4:54.299.
- Current record: 4 minutes 54.299 seconds.
- Theoretical absolute limit: 4 minutes 54.265 seconds.
- The difference is only 33 milliseconds, or just 2 frames of animation.
Now the gaming community is holding its breath: it seems that fully reaching the theoretical limit and establishing the ultimate, perfect record in Super Mario Bros. is only a matter of time.
