Kinetic Publishing and Cold Zephyr Games have announced a new game, Contact Protocol — a spaceship job simulator that will transport players to a grim "cassette" future filled with CRT monitors and spacecraft. The game's release on the Switch 2 console is scheduled for spring 2027.
In Contact Protocol, players will take on the role of a security officer aboard the GalCo mining vessel Pale Horse, which is heading to Jupiter's largest moon. Your main task will be assessing the intentions of approaching ships. Players will have to compare the information they provide with corporate records to determine who is in front of you: a potential partner or a threat.
However, this is far from simple paperwork. While you search for discrepancies in the data and send requests for additional information, the unknown ship is getting closer and closer. A mistake could lead to disaster, but a premature torpedo volley due to excessive caution could destroy innocent crews. At the same time, the company is closely watching your every move, threatening legal consequences for negligence in documentation.
