The release of the enhanced edition will have to wait
Publisher Inin Games has announced the postponement of the release of Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition. Originally, the updated version of the game was planned for release in late 2026, but the release will now take place in early 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
According to the publisher, the development team needs additional time to bring the project to the proper quality and complete final polishing of the game for modern platforms.
What the Enhanced Edition will offer
The updated version of Ryo Hazuki's adventure from studio Ys Net will feature a whole range of technical improvements:
- Graphical updates and increased performance thanks to new hardware;
- Support for modern resolution upscaling technologies DLSS and FSR;
- Higher non-player character (NPC) density on the streets of Niaowu;
- A classic camera mode inspired by the first two installments of the Shenmue series;
- UI and gameplay convenience improvements (Quality of Life).
The creators promised to share fresh details about the game in the very near future.
