Tribute Games, in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences and comic creator Bryan Lee O'Malley, has released the first major expansion for the beat 'em up Scott Pilgrim EX, which launched in March 2026. The content is divided into two parts: the paid Back in the Band expansion and the free Coin-Op Chaos update, which are now available on Nintendo Switch.
Paid DLC: Scott Pilgrim EX – Back in the Band ($3.99)
The add-on brings the full rock band together, introducing three new playable characters with unique fighting styles, animations, and moves:
- Stephen Stills: An aggressive frontman who smashes enemies with guitar strikes and deafening feedback.
- Kim Pine: A powerful fighter combining heavy drumstick hits and devastating breakdowns.
- Knives Chau: A lightning-fast and agile heroine who attacks with acrobatic strikes, shadow clone techniques, and a combat scarf.
Additionally, the DLC includes new assist characters (Joseph, Hollie, Mr. Chau), fresh color palettes, and combos.
Free Update: Coin-Op Chaos
All owners of the original game have received a free Arcade Mode in the style of classic coin-op brawlers of the past. It offers:
- A classic progression structure with a limited number of lives and credits.
- A race for high scores and local leaderboards.
- Up to 4-player co-op (local and online) with crossplay and drop-in/drop-out support.
To celebrate the release of the expansions, the base game Scott Pilgrim EX is 20% off until September 9.
