Although many Nintendo fans were expecting an OLED display in the Switch 2, the company currently seems to be planning a different upgrade. According to new leaks from Chinese component resellers, the console's standard LCD screen could receive a significant revision.
New Supplier and Component Changes
The outlet Nintendo Patents Watch noted a new batch of LCD panels for the Switch 2 that began appearing on various Chinese marketplaces. According to preliminary data, the manufacturer of the new displays is Sharp.
For comparison, current versions of the Switch 2 use panels from the manufacturer Innolux. The new sample features noticeable differences in PCB routing, connectors, and ribbon cables, indicating a significant internal redesign of the screen module.
Mass Production on the Way?
Leaks indicate that the new batch of screens from Sharp is increasingly appearing among various suppliers, which may suggest the start of their mass production. It currently remains unknown whether Nintendo plans to completely replace Innolux panels with Sharp in future batches or use both display variants in parallel.
