Publisher DreadXP and developer Vincent Adinolfi have officially announced the release of the retro horror Heartworm on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles. The atmospheric game is scheduled for release on October 1, 2026.
A Nostalgic Nightmare in the Spirit of the '90s
Heartworm is a psychological survival horror that pays homage to iconic representatives of the genre from the PlayStation 1 era, such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Dino Crisis. The game combines a low-fi retro aesthetic, fixed camera angles, challenging puzzles, and an eerie story.
Key features of the project:
- Authentic retro graphics with the aesthetics of classic late-90s 3D horrors;
- A deep psychological storyline about the protagonist's struggle with her inner and otherworldly fears;
- Classic survival horror gameplay: limited resources, inventory management, and exploration of dangerous locations.
The game will make a great addition to the library of both the original Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 console just ahead of Halloween 2026.
