Pokémon TCG Pocket audience has significantly shrunk: developers plan to bring players back

Pokémon TCG Pocket has lost a significant part of its audience: the active base decreased from 39 to 23 million players. DeNA is preparing new events to bring users back.

Decline in popularity of Pokémon TCG Pocket

The game Pokémon TCG Pocket, released in October 2024, initially quickly gathered millions of players and brought in significant revenue. However, fresh data shows that the situation has now become less rosy.

The company DeNA, the developer of the game, shared its financial results for the first quarter, which indicate a significant drop in revenue and profit. The studio notes that this is due to a decline in interest in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The number of monthly active users fell from 39 million last year to 23 million in the first quarter of the 2026/2027 financial year.

Plans to bring players back

DeNA is actively working to get Pokémon TCG Pocket back on track. The developers plan to implement a number of measures:

  • Launching various in-game events and promotional campaigns.
  • Encouraging players to log into the game more often.
  • Maintaining the audience's interest and activity over a longer period of time.

Whether the new initiatives will be able to restore the game to its former glory — only time will tell.
