If you consider yourself a die-hard fan of pocket monsters and have a substantial budget for exclusive merchandise, The Pokémon Company has something special for you. As part of the franchise's 30th-anniversary celebration, the company unveiled extraordinarily expensive collectible Pokémon figurines crafted from gold.
Luxury for the Select Few: Gholdengo and Pikachu
The main star of the new collection is the Pokémon Gholdengo, which is entirely fitting for a character literally made of gold coins. Fans will be able to purchase or view the following items:
- Solid Gold Gholdengo: A 6-centimeter-tall figurine crafted from pure gold, valued at nearly $10,000.
- Life-Size Gholdengo Statue: A sculpture standing approximately 1.2 meters (3.9 feet) tall, coated with around 730 sheets of gold leaf.
- Gold Pikachu: The iconic mascot has not been left out either—its 50-centimeter figurine is adorned with 200 sheets of gold leaf.
Where to See the Gold Statues?
For those who want to appreciate the craftsmanship in person, the figurines will be displayed on the 8th floor of the Yokohama Takashimaya department store in Japan. The exhibition will run from September 30 to October 5, 2026.
