A difficult path to success
The cinematic adventure game Planet of Lana gained great popularity, sold a significant number of copies, and even received a sequel in 2025. However, the path to this triumph was extremely difficult. In an interview with Games Industry, Adam Stjärnljus, co-director and creative director of Wishfully studio, said that the team had to make hundreds of pitches and hear hundreds of rejections before the project received funding.
According to him, some rejections were polite, and others — not so much. "It was really, really hard... awful to constantly hear \"no\"," Adam shared.
The future of Planet of Lana and the film adaptation
Fortunately, all these difficulties are left behind. The future of the franchise looks bright, as the developers plan to continue building the game's universe. An important part of this development is the previously announced film adaptation of Planet of Lana. Stjärnljus shared a few details about the collaboration with the film company Story Kitchen:
- The partners at Story Kitchen have been thrilled with the project from the very beginning.
- They fully understand the essence of the game and its unique atmosphere.
- The studio is confident that the franchise is in reliable hands.
- There are many interesting things happening around the adaptation.
Planet of Lana has proven that perseverance and belief in one's own project can overcome any obstacles. All that remains is to wait for new games and the upcoming film that will expand this exciting universe.
