80s Retro Vibe in Space
Alongside the release of the intergalactic co-op adventure Orbitals on Nintendo Switch 2, the label Laced Records has released the game's official digital soundtrack on leading streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp.
The album Orbitals (Original Soundtrack) features 41 tracks created by the Swedish duo Falk & Klou (Fredrik Segerfalk and Karl-Johan Fogelklou). J-pop legend Mami Ayukawa, known for iconic tracks in classic 80s mecha anime like Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, joined the recording of the opening theme "~Accelerating Destiny~" and the closing track "Heart To Heart".
Sound Characteristics
The composers worked on the project for over four years, guided by the idea of "what if the 80s never ended." They deliberately avoided modern mixing methods, recording tracks using vintage analog synthesizers and drum machines of that era.
- Influences of Japanese jazz fusion in the style of Casiopea and T-Square in driving guitar tracks like "Spirit Heroes" and "Reactor Cassette ROCK";
- Atmospheric ambient motifs for locations inspired by the works of maestro Joe Hisaishi;
- An exclusive release of singles on collectible 7-inch vinyl from Laced Records.
