The highly anticipated Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which will be the first new game in the series in the last 20 years, is preparing for release on Nintendo Switch 2. Thanks to promotional materials recently spotted in Japan, it has become known how much space the digital version of the game will require.
Game size and release date
If you plan to purchase the game in digital format, you won't have to free up that much space. Onimusha: Way of the Sword will take up 34 GB of free space on the console. So, it's likely you won't even need to buy a new micro SD Express memory card specifically for this release.
The official start of sales will take place on September 4, 2026, simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Features of the Switch 2 version
This dark fantasy adventure will tell the story of a young samurai, Miyamoto Musashi, who fights Genma monsters in Edo-period Kyoto. In addition to a captivating plot and a new trailer showing a fight near the Yasui Konpiragu shrine, the version for the new Nintendo console will receive unique control features:
- Exclusive motion controls using the new Joy-Con 2 controllers.
- Intuitive and engaging control during sword fights.
- Realistic bow aiming capability using gyroscopes.
