Today marks the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword — the first brand-new installment in Capcom's iconic samurai franchise in 20 years. The game is already available on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Return of a Legend in Edo-Period Kyoto
The events of the game unfold in Japan's historic capital — Kyoto, which has been engulfed in a mysterious and sinister darkness. The protagonist is the young and fierce samurai Miyamoto Musashi, whose appearance is modeled after legendary Japanese film actor Toshiro Mifune.
Armed with the mystical Oni Gauntlet, Musashi gains superhuman powers to fight the Genma demons that have broken through from the underworld. The gauntlet allows him not only to destroy enemies in bloody battles, but also to absorb their souls for his own enhancement.

The Switch 2 version has received dedicated gesture support thanks to the Joy-Con 2 controllers:
- Intuitive sword control using motion;
- Precise aiming during archery;
