No Man's Sky is coming to iOS: optimization will also improve the game on Nintendo Switch

No Man's Sky is coming to iOS as soon as October 28, and engine optimization will improve the game's performance on other platforms as well, including Nintendo Switch.

Hello Games studio has announced the release of its massive space simulator No Man's Sky on iOS devices. The release for iPhone and iPad will take place as early as October 28 with all released updates included.

Optimization and impact on other platforms

According to studio co-founder Sean Murray, development of the mobile version took nearly three years. The game will support touch controls, gamepads, and even keyboard and mouse, running on devices starting from iPhone 11.

Interestingly, work on engine optimization brought numerous performance improvements that players across all platforms will experience, including Nintendo Switch, PC, and other consoles. A significant part of these technical solutions emerged thanks to the development of the studio's next major game — Light No Fire, which uses the same shared engine.

  • The iOS release will include all previous content updates.
  • Memory optimization improvements will positively impact the game's performance on consoles.
  • The shared engine with Light No Fire helped adapt the massive universe for mobile chips.
