Pirated dumps reach the Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been on the market for over a year, and throughout this time, the company has quite successfully curbed the spread of pirated content. Nintendo is known for its decisive and swift legal actions against the illegal distribution of its games, but pirates seem to have managed to overcome yet another security barrier of the new platform.
First recorded leaks
Reports have begun appearing online that ROM files of projects for the Nintendo Switch 2 have started leaking into the public domain for the first time. In particular, Twitter user @ProjLightning published a screenshot showing a list of files obtained as a result of datamining a Duskbloods beta dump.
Additionally, ROM files for the first four chapters of DELTARUNE have reportedly appeared. According to preliminary data, this is just the beginning, and further leaks should be expected in the near future.
What to expect next?
If the situation continues to develop at this pace, widespread piracy on the Switch 2 platform may become only a matter of time. It remains to be seen what technical and legal measures Nintendo will take to minimize the consequences of this incident.
