Minecraft officially arrives on Nintendo Switch 2
The iconic sandbox game Minecraft is now officially available on the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 console! The new version has received a major graphical update called Vibrant Visuals, bringing directional lighting, volumetric fog, dynamic shadows, and other enhanced visual effects.
Exclusive Mario content and editions
The Switch 2 version also includes the exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, adapted for the enhanced graphics. Players can access familiar Mario locations, 15 soundtracks, and 40 character skins.
Players can choose from three digital editions:
- Standard Edition
- Deluxe Collection
- Ultimate Collection
The latter two bundles include additional bonuses and Minecoins. A physical Standard Edition will also be released later.
Free upgrade and discounts for owners
For those who already own a copy of Minecraft for the original Nintendo Switch, an upgrade program runs from October 27, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Digital version owners can upgrade to the standard edition for Switch 2 for free in the Nintendo eShop or purchase expanded editions at a discount. When transferring the game, you will be able to keep all your created worlds and continue playing right where you left off.
