American collector Roger Holler faced a real tragedy: while his family was out of town, intruders broke into his home and stole his massive retro collection, which included over 860 games for the classic NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) console.
A Lifelong Passion
Holler had been building his unique collection for over 40 years—ever since he received his first NES as a gift from his mother at the age of 11. The collection's value is estimated between $50,000 and $100,000, but for the owner, it is above all a priceless emotional loss, as he had planned to pass the games down to his grandchildren.
Police Are Investigating
Upon returning home, the owner discovered a kicked-in door and empty shelves. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the incident:
- A burglary report has been filed with the local police;
- Cooperation with the insurance company regarding damage assessment is underway;
- The victim is working on installing a video surveillance system and repairing the damaged doors.
Currently, there are no leads or clues regarding the identity of the thieves, but the retro gaming community hopes that the criminals will be found and the unique collection returned to its rightful owner.
