Sega has officially launched its own Discord server dedicated to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. As expected, the launch caused a real stir among the community: more than 50,000 users joined the server in the first six hours alone.
Strict Moderation and Restrictions
To cope with the massive influx of fans and maintain a family-friendly atmosphere ("family friendly"), moderators had to introduce strict restrictions right from the start:
- Slow mode: the interval between user messages has been significantly increased.
- Media file blocking: image posting is disabled by default, and a fan art channel is currently absent.
- Aggressive filter: automated bots instantly delete messages written in uppercase (Caps Lock).
- Restrictions for newcomers: only those who supported the server with a Discord Nitro boost can send messages immediately upon joining.
Despite strict rules and total control, the overall atmosphere on the server remains stable — most fans are having fun sending branded Sonic stickers. Over time, moderation is expected to adapt, new themed channels will appear, and the server will become the main platform for discussing upcoming games in the series.
