Scandal surrounding the releases of Ukrainian studio Ternox
Ukrainian indie developer and publisher Ternox reported unexpected issues in cooperation with Sony Interactive Entertainment. According to the developer, the platform holder blocked the release of the anticipated stock market simulator STONKS-9800 on PlayStation 5, and also began removing the studio's previous projects from the PlayStation Store.
The game STONKS-9800: Stock Market Simulator, which invites players to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Japanese stock market of the 80s and 90s, gained great popularity among fans of retro styling and economic simulators. However, Sony console owners, it seems, will not be able to experience the game anytime soon.
What happened to the studio's other projects?
According to available information, the situation was not limited solely to the cancellation of the STONKS-9800 release:
- Sony began the process of delisting all previously released Ternox games from the PS Store;
- The developer received no clear or transparent explanations regarding the reasons for such actions from the platform;
- On other platforms, the developer's games remain available without restrictions.
The Ukrainian gaming community is expressing support for the developer, hoping for a resolution to the conflict or clarification of the platform holder's official position.
