HOSHiN ENGi Re:surrection announced for Nintendo Switch 2

Shueisha Games has unveiled HOSHiN ENGi Re:surrection, a new action roguelite based on Ryu Fujisaki's iconic manga, coming to Switch 2 in 2027.

Publisher Shueisha Games has officially announced HOSHiN ENGi Re:surrection, a dynamic action roguelite based on the famous manga by Ryu Fujisaki. The game will be released on the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 console in 2027.

A new adventure in a familiar universe

The manga Hoshin Engi, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump in the late 90s and has sold over 22 million copies, is getting a full-fledged game adaptation. The game's plot unfolds after the conclusion of the original story. Players will take control of Toshin, a new hero created by Fujisaki himself. Together with his loyal spirit beast Chuchue Doji, he embarks into dangerous dungeons at the order of Master Taikobo to overcome a new threat.

Key gameplay features:

  • Paope combat system customization: Battles revolve around mythical treasures (Paope). Players combine primary and secondary equipment, creating unique builds and unlocking devastating attack combinations.
  • Spirit companion support: Chuchue Doji autonomously assists in ground battles, as well as serving as a mount for spectacular aerial attacks.
  • Ever-changing dungeons: Each run generates a unique route with islands and previewed rewards, encouraging a tactical approach to path selection.
  • Progression system: Resources gathered during runs are spent in the hub on permanent upgrades for Toshin and his gear.
  • Bonds with legendary allies: Interacting and training with iconic heroes from the manga yields valuable rewards and support in battles.

Visually, the game recreates the style of the original manga, bringing the pages to life with modern animation.
