Hello to all Nintendo fans!
The last week of October turned out to be truly eventful and even somewhat turbulent for our entire community. While hackers are storming the security defenses of the brand-new Switch 2, developers continue to shower us with major announcements, and the eShop tempts with holiday discounts. We have carefully selected the most important highlights so you won't miss a single vital detail from the world of your favorite games.
Hardware, Security, and Unexpected Rumors
Security news caused a real stir: researchers achieved a major breakthrough in hacking the Nintendo Switch 2, opening the door to dumping system files. As a result, the first Switch 2 game ROMs have already begun appearing online. At the same time, information about a new manufacturing process from Samsung has reignited rumors regarding the development of a handheld Switch 2 Lite model. It also became known about Nintendo's strict cartridge reprint policy, which prohibits releasing full physical copies following game-code card releases.
Major Announcements and Expectations
The tomb-raiding franchise is celebrating an anniversary: we saw an exciting teaser for the massive remake of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis dedicated to the series' 30th anniversary. Koei Tecmo unexpectedly delighted anime fans by announcing that the action game Attack on Titan 3 will be released on December 9. For fans of dark retro, studio Pixel Reign announced an explosive mix of genres in the roguelite shooter Moros Protocol. And for those who love cozy indie projects, Nintendo has already prepared a new Indie World Showcase presentation.
File Sizes, Releases, and Technical Nuances
Console storage is under threat once again: we now know that the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will take up quite a lot of space on Switch 2, and we also rounded up the storage appetites of other fresh releases in the eShop. If you play online shooters, clear some free space, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 received a 39 GB patch. Unfortunately, not all updates go smoothly: the massive Edgerunners 2 update for Cyberpunk 2077 caused technical issues on Switch 2, so we are waiting for fixes from CD Projekt RED.
Useful Tips, Retro, and Pokémon
For those looking for great deals, we prepared a practical guide on how to buy games on Switch in the reality of 2026, and a massive Halloween sale has just kicked off in the eShop. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can try out the game trial for Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted and dive into nostalgia with three retro Game Boy titles. Among other highlights of the week: the announcement of the interactive Pokémon Friends Poke Ball+ toy, the launch trailer for the culinary game ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet, and Shigeru Miyamoto's philosophical take on the future of artificial intelligence.
