Ghost Sweeper to Get a Game Boy Advance Release, While Kickstarter Stretch Goals Could Bring the Game to Switch

The action-puzzle game Ghost Sweeper will be released on cartridges for the Game Boy Advance thanks to Kickstarter, with a Switch compilation among the stretch goals.

Studio 7 Raven Studios, in partnership with PIKO Interactive, has successfully funded on Kickstarter a retro release of the action-puzzle game Ghost Sweeper on a physical cartridge for the Game Boy Advance. The campaign reached its base goal in just five days, raising over 131% of the required amount.

Return to Handheld Roots

Ghost Sweeper is a vibrant platformer with puzzle elements where players, as ghost hunters, must defeat the Dark Lord's army by exploring eight unique worlds, secret levels, and collecting treasures. The Game Boy Advance version is being developed specifically for the original hardware of the classic handheld.

Plans for Switch and Other Platforms

Reaching the base goal guarantees the game's release on GBA, but the developers have ambitious stretch goals:

  • Versions for Sega Genesis / Mega Drive and Neo Geo AES/MVS;
  • PlayStation 5 release;
  • A special physical compilation for Nintendo Switch that will include four of the studio's original games at once: Ghost Sweeper, Rusty Spout, DAMN, and Teppo.

7 Raven Studios has been developing for Nintendo platforms since the days of the SNES and Game Boy, so returning to creating commercial retro games is an important milestone for the industry veterans.
