A Return to the Roots of Handheld Gaming
7 Raven Studios, in collaboration with publisher PIKO Interactive, announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to release the game Ghost Sweeper on the iconic Game Boy Advance handheld console. This marks the beginning of a new initiative by the studio to produce commercial releases for classic retro hardware.
The developers plan to release the game on a full-fledged physical cartridge for the Game Boy Advance. The puzzle platformer's plot tells the story of the Dark Lord's return after a centuries-long slumber, unleashing an army of ghosts, skeletons, and monster pumpkins. Players will explore eight unique worlds, discover secret levels, and defeat the forces of evil.
Stretch Goals and Nintendo Switch Collection
The Kickstarter campaign includes a number of stretch goals:
- Porting Ghost Sweeper to PlayStation 5, Sega Genesis / Mega Drive, and Neo Geo AES/MVS.
- Releasing a special physical collection for Nintendo Switch featuring four original games from 7 Raven Studios: Ghost Sweeper, Rusty Spout, DAMN, and Teppo.
The campaign's start has been very successful: in less than 24 hours, the project raised over 55% of the required funding, highlighting the community's strong interest in retro releases.
