The final part of the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, will be one of the main events of this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live ceremony. Square Enix confirmed that we will get a "new look" at the game during Geoff Keighley's show on Wednesday, August 25.
No story DLC for the finale
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi emphasized that the base game will put the final end to the story, refuting rumors that an epilogue might be added in future expansions.
"The story will conclude within the main game. We are seriously determined to finish the series in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. If we hypothetically released any expansions, we would most likely create a spin-off focused on a specific character and their untold story," Hamaguchi noted.
Release on Nintendo Switch 2
It is expected that the third and final part of the trilogy will be released in the spring of 2027. The game will be available on the following platforms:
- Nintendo Switch 2
- PC
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X/S
After the summer announcement of the game at Summer Game Fest 2026, sales of previous parts (Remake and Rebirth) multiplied several times, surpassing all of Square Enix's expectations.
