The release of the unusual project The Hambagu Shop has been announced for Nintendo Switch, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The game combines a meditative cooking simulator with creepy psychological horror in a VHS aesthetic.
Delicious Burgers and Otherworldly Nightmares
The main protagonist, Mari, inherits a Japanese hamburg steak restaurant from her late grandfather. Her goal is to grow the business at all costs. Players will have to fry patties, serve them over rice with various toppings, unlock new side dishes and drinks, and reinvest earned money into expanding the establishment.
However, the cozy atmosphere is deceptive: while serving customers, Mari begins to see terrifying visions hinting that the restaurant conceals dark secrets. The developers warn of jumpscares, an eerie atmosphere, and a tense storyline.
