A new look at the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
The "From the Ward" series of developer video diaries continues to delight fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. In the sixth episode, Infinity Ward showed footage from the Fanatics Fest in New York, where attendees were the first to try out the alpha version of the all-new Kill Block mode and share their impressions of the gameplay.
A historic return to Nintendo consoles
It is hard to believe, but it has been over 13 years since the release of the last Call of Duty franchise game on Nintendo platforms. This long pause will finally be broken: the developers have officially confirmed that Modern Warfare 4 will be released on the new Switch 2 console on October 23, 2026.
Plot and gameplay features
The story campaign will plunge players into a rapid global conflict on the Korean Peninsula. You will play as Private Park, a young South Korean soldier who finds himself at the epicenter of an invasion, and the famous Captain Price, who operates outside the system. The geography of the battles will span the entire world: from shootouts in New York and car chases through Paris to night raids in Mumbai and trench warfare in Korea.
Multiplayer mode and innovations
The multiplayer will receive a number of significant updates and features specifically for the new Nintendo console:
- Full crossplay support and cross-progression between different platforms.
- Optional controls using Joy-Con 2 gyroscope functions that simulate a mouse.
- A new Ballistic Authority shooting system for maximum weapon realism.
- 12 core maps at launch and a dynamic Kill Block mode featuring over 500 battlefield configurations that change between rounds.
