The Call of Duty franchise is returning to Nintendo platforms after a long hiatus that has lasted since the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts on Wii U in 2013. The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for Switch 2 is scheduled for October 23, 2026, with the game featuring full feature parity with other platforms, including full crossplay.
Optimization Features and Frame Rate
In an interview with Insider-Gaming, Digital Legends Associate Director of Production Beatriz Gonzalez shared details about development and performance on the new console:
- Story campaign: runs at a stable 30 fps.
- Multiplayer mode: the developers aim to achieve 60 fps in docked mode. In handheld mode, performance is expected to be around 44 fps.
- Joy-Con mouse controls: features support for a unique "Mouse Mode" via Switch 2 controllers, which significantly improves aiming accuracy.
Story and Multiplayer
The Modern Warfare 4 story campaign will immerse players in a large-scale conflict on the Korean Peninsula, as well as take them to locations in New York, Paris, and Mumbai. Multiplayer will offer a new Ballistic Authority shooting system, 12 base maps, and a dynamic Kill Block arena with over 500 layout variations.
