It is hard to believe, but it has been over 13 years since a Call of Duty game was last released on a Nintendo platform. This long break will finally end with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which will officially come out on Switch 2 on October 23, 2026.
First look at the campaign
Today, the developers shared a new video titled "Traffic", in which they showed a fragment of the story campaign. In the video, you can see an unexpected alliance between Captain Price and Valeria during a dangerous mission in Paris. The events of Modern Warfare 4 will unfold against the backdrop of a rapidly escalating global conflict on the Korean Peninsula.
Players will take on the role of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier who finds himself in the epicenter of a full-scale invasion. Meanwhile, Captain Price, who now operates outside the law, is hunting for a weapon that threatens to destroy the entire world. The story campaign will take players through a wide variety of locations:
- Close-quarters combat in New York;
- Thrilling car chases in Paris;
- Nighttime special forces raids in Mumbai;
- Trench warfare in Korea.
Innovations in multiplayer
The multiplayer mode will offer a precise combat system built on fluid movements for better control in every encounter. The developers also confirmed full support for crossplay, cross-progression, and optional controls using the new Joy-Con 2, which can be used similarly to a mouse.
In addition, multiplayer will receive the innovative Ballistic Authority system, which will provide the most authentic shooting in the history of the franchise. At launch, 12 core maps in various parts of the world will be available, as well as an entirely new dynamic mode, Kill Block, where the battlefield layout changes between rounds, featuring over 500 possible configurations.
