Publisher SelectaPlay, in collaboration with Spanish indie studio Dormidin Studio, has announced the release of the 2D action-adventure Metroidvania — Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster. The game is already available on Nintendo Switch both digitally via the Nintendo eShop and on physical cartridges with a reversible cover.
Nostalgia for 80s and 90s Classics
Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is inspired by cult films and classic video games such as The Beastmaster, Conan the Barbarian, Castlevania, and Golden Axe. Players will explore the picturesque, hand-drawn brutal world of Arborea, where every character and monster was created through hundreds of detailed sketches.
The combat system is built around the legendary Heart-Eater sword and the use of ritual rings that unlock new devastating moves for battles against formidable bosses and enemy hordes.
Key Game Features:
- Beast Power: absorb animal souls for transformations and acquiring new combat skills.
- Vast Metroidvania World: travel through ancient ruins, dark magic domains, and wild expanses.
- Arena Duels: dynamic one-on-one battles with camera zoom-ins in the style of arcade fighting games.
- Flexible Customization: collect amulets, plant roots, and ritual items to improve attack power, health, or mana.
