A new journey into the world of alchemy with Atelier Karia
Publisher KOEI TECMO and studio Gust have prepared a new trailer for the upcoming JRPG Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories specifically for Tokyo Game Show 2026. The game will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 console on February 25, 2027.
Story, combat system, and styles
The story follows the amnesiac alchemist Karia and her companions—Servio, Fina, and fan-familiar Yumia Liessfeldt. Together, they will explore the mysterious underworld of Aladiss.
Throughout the playthrough, players will gain access to more than eight unique combat styles for Karia:
- Ignis Style: focuses on the power of fire, significantly boosts attack, but leaves the heroine vulnerable to ice attacks.
- Mermaid Style: an ice magic style that allows casting powerful spells and even walking on water while exploring locations.
Interactive actions and colossal bosses
Location exploration reaches a new level thanks to Interactive Field Actions. Using elemental items (Flamme, Lehrune, Plajig, and Luft), players will be able to activate mechanisms, overcome obstacles, and influence the gathering of ingredients through the Elemental Alteration mechanic.
The heroes will also face large-scale battles with giant bosses. The battle will consist of two phases: Frontline and Assault Team, where it is crucial to complete additional objectives and utilize support structures such as sonic cannons and cover.
Updated alchemy and pre-orders
The synthesis system has undergone a significant overhaul: item crafting now resembles assembling a recipe map by connecting mana pieces. Pre-orders for the standard edition of the game are already open, and early purchase bonuses include the "Noctrem Pioneering Preparation Set" costume pack. In addition, fans can pre-order the limited physical Premium Box edition with an artbook, soundtrack, and posters.
