Amphibian has been announced for the Nintendo Switch hybrid console — a grim 2D role-playing game in the style of classic console adventures, set in a fantasy world inhabited by bipedal, sentient frogs.
A Grim Tale of Conflict
The game is being developed by Greg Alexandropoulos and James Roumeliotis, with the soundtrack composed by the indie rock band Western Education. The plot centers on a complex socio-political drama recounting generations of loss, betrayal, and violence in a fierce confrontation between frogs and toads.
Tactical Battles Without Grinding
The developers offer deliberate tactical gameplay without random encounters or tedious farming:
- Well-thought-out turn-based battles: each battle is unique and requires careful resource management.
- Serious consequences: battle injuries inflict permanent debuffs on heroes.
- Flexible class system: characters have an extensive leveling system, allowing players to adapt the squad to their own playstyle.
- Exploration and secrets: every found item or stat point can become decisive for the team's survival.
The release of Amphibian on Nintendo Switch promises to deliver a rich story where every choice matters.
