10 years later: No Man's Sky players have explored less than 1% of planets

For its tenth anniversary, No Man's Sky revealed impressive statistics: despite millions of players, less than 1% of planets have been explored. The game is available on Switch and Switch 2.

Hello Games celebrates its 10th anniversary.

It is hard to believe, but the space sandbox No Man's Sky was released exactly ten years ago — on August 9, 2016. Although the game received mixed reviews at launch, the developers at Hello Games did not give up. During this time, they have released over thirty major updates, turning the project into an impressive adventure that can be enjoyed today on both the Nintendo Switch and the latest Switch 2.

Impressive statistics

To celebrate this important milestone, Hello Games founder and head Sean Murray addressed fans with an open letter. In it, he thanked the community for their years of support and shared an incredible fact:

  • Tens of millions of players have set off on journeys across the galaxies.
  • Despite such activity, less than 1% of all available planets in the game have been explored!

The cosmic expanses of No Man's Sky continue to amaze with their scale, leaving vast room for future discoverers.
