Publisher QUByte Interactive, in collaboration with Bleem!, has announced the release of the Thunder Hoop Collection for Nintendo Switch, scheduled for release on October 8, 2026.
The Return of '90s Arcade Classics
The collection includes two games from the cult Spanish developer Gaelco, S.A., which were released on arcade cabinets in 1992 and 1994:
- Thunder Hoop — the original dynamic run-and-gun platformer;
- TH Strikes Back — a direct sequel featuring two-player cooperative play support.
The Thunder Hoop duology was remembered by players for its unusual combination of styles: the protagonist's aesthetic nods to the works of Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball) with a distinctive hairstyle and energy attacks, while the enemies and bosses are inspired by the eerie biomechanical designs of H.R. Giger, David Cronenberg, and John Carpenter's movie "The Thing."
Both games run on the proprietary QUByte Emulation Engine, allowing players to enjoy an authentic arcade experience on the hybrid console.
