The developers of the unusual 2D horror game Tenebris Somnia have released a new video detailing the project's creation process. The discussion featured director Andres Borghi, executive producer Mason Smith (known as Airdorf), and New Blood publishing head Dave Oshry.
A Combination of Retro Pixels and Live-Action Cinema
Tenebris Somnia is an adventure retro survival horror game inspired by cult classics like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Players will have to solve eerie puzzles, explore dangerous locations, and fight terrifying creatures in the style of 8-bit and 16-bit games.
The main highlight of the game is its cinematic cutscenes with live actors: at key moments, the 2D gameplay gives way to live-action scenes featuring practical special effects from an award-winning film crew from Argentina.
Release Date
The release of Tenebris Somnia on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 will take place on October 16, 2026, both digitally and on physical media.
