NBA 2K25 to be pulled from sale and servers shut down: MyCareer and MyTeam modes to become a thing of the past

2K announced the removal of NBA 2K25 from digital stores and an upcoming server shutdown, which will block access to the MyCareer and MyTeam modes.

Removal from digital stores and server shutdown

Publisher 2K has announced plans to remove the basketball simulator NBA 2K25 from sale across all digital stores, including the Nintendo eShop. The game will be permanently removed from digital storefronts on October 30, 2026.

The end for the most popular modes

In addition to the delisting, the publisher will completely shut down the title's online servers on December 31, 2026. Due to the game's architecture, this will lead to the blocking of key components:

  • MyCareer: the story mode for creating and developing your own player requires a server connection, so it will become completely inaccessible;
  • MyTeam: the card-collecting and online competition mode will also cease to exist.

Players who already have a copy of NBA 2K25 in their library will still be able to redownload it. However, starting January 2027, only basic local offline matches will remain accessible to them.
