Lovecraftian horror through the eyes of a penguin
Studio ORIGAME DIGITAL and indie publisher Fellow Traveller have unveiled a new story trailer for the atmospheric narrative horror Penguin Colony. The game is inspired by the classic works of H. P. Lovecraft, notably "At the Mountains of Madness" and "The Shadow Out of Time".
The events unfold in 1939 in the icy wasteland of Antarctica. Two rival factions venture deep into the glaciers in search of ancient secrets: the Nazis seek to acquire mystical power to prove their superiority, while the indigenous Kaitiaki people try to prevent the awakening of what sleeps beneath the thick layer of ice. An ordinary penguin acts as the main observer of these events.
Game features and Switch 2 release
Players will explore open environments and observe through the surroundings how human ambitions devolve into paranoia and madness:
- Fragmented narrative and deep environmental storytelling;
- An unusual perspective through the eyes of Antarctic wildlife;
- A grim atmosphere of cosmic horror amidst the permafrost.
The release of Penguin Colony on PC via Steam will take place in late 2026, with the version for Nintendo Switch 2 scheduled for 2027.
