Changes in Nintendo Platform Versions
The release of the METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 2 collection gives fans the opportunity to play the iconic Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots outside of the original PlayStation 3 for the first time. However, the game versions for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 have received certain cosmetic changes.
As eagle-eyed players on Reddit noticed while comparing the game's digital manuals, direct mentions of Sony consoles were removed from the Switch and Switch 2 versions. Specifically, the PS3 model, which featured in the original game and remained on other platforms, was replaced on Nintendo consoles with the signature GA-KO rubber duck. In addition, the changes also affected the character Sunny's PSP handheld console.
Collection Contents
In addition to updated visual elements, the collection offers a rich selection of classic titles and bonus materials:
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version with up to 6-player online mode)
- Metal Gear: Ghost Babel
- Digital bonuses: screenplay books, MGS4 Database, and digital soundtrack.
Such adjustments are entirely expected given licensing agreements and the release of the cult classic on Nintendo platforms.
