New challenges for climbers in Cairn
The Game Bakers studio shared fresh details about the free add-on "On the Trail: Deep Water" for its realistic climbing and survival game Cairn. The project's release on Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for early 2027, and a demo of the game is already available to players.
What the Deep Water update will bring
"On the Trail" is a series of free updates that expands the horizons of the base game. The first DLC, titled "Deep Water," adds a climbing mechanic over open water (deep-water soloing), allowing players to tackle challenging overhanging routes without the risk of a fatal fall.
- Three new locations: scenic coastal cliffs of Haken and Ruka, as well as the Lamu climbing wall with fresh routes.
- New character: the ability to play as experienced climber Aava or Marco, comparing their unique climbing styles in free mode.
- In the footsteps of a legend: exploring clues left behind by previous expeditions and uncovering the secrets of new areas.
Cairn received high acclaim from critics for its intense ascent simulation and atmospheric story, so the game's release on Switch 2 alongside the free DLC will be a great reason to set out and conquer Mount Kami.
