The upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released on all current platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, in the spring of 2027. While the release is still ahead, project director Naoki Hamaguchi shared interesting new details about the third installment of the remake trilogy during Gamescom.
Why "Revelation"?
Hamaguchi explained the choice of the subtitle by noting that the team is finally ready to reveal all secrets and conclude the story, which has been in development for over a decade:
«We have been creating this series for 10–12 years. We are very eager to reveal the finale, which is why we chose the word Revelation. We will reveal and show everything to bring the story to its completion.»
Connection to Advent Children and Other Compilation Projects
Fans of the iconic game have long wondered how the events of the new game relate to other works in the universe, particularly the film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. According to the director, the movie and other universe expansions are definitely factored into the big picture:
- The events of Advent Children are part of a broader narrative, but whether Cloud's journey will lead to that exact finale is something players will have to find out for themselves.
- The team aims to integrate elements from the entire Final Fantasy VII compilation, adding numerous references and callbacks for fans.
The game's release promises to be a massive culmination of the modern FFVII saga for fans on next-generation consoles.
