Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi shared his thoughts on the grandeur of his project. According to him, the industry will hardly ever see another game or trilogy that can match the scale of this reimagining of the cult classic.
Unprecedented scale across three parts
During a recent interview, Hamaguchi noted that the total amount of content across the entire trilogy (which offers a combined total of over 300 hours of gameplay) makes the project a unique phenomenon in the entertainment industry:
“In terms of impact on the entertainment industry, I believe it will definitely be an unforgettable series. Final Fantasy VII is not just huge, but the scale of the entire Remake series is simply colossal. I doubt any game will ever match this scope within three parts again. In that sense, the FFVII remake trilogy will remain a unique phenomenon, and I am very proud of that.”
What to expect from the finale on Switch 2
The finale of the trilogy, titled Final Fantasy VII Revelation, will be released simultaneously on all current platforms, including the Switch 2, on April 8, 2027. The game will offer players:
- Complete freedom to explore the planet on the iconic airship "Highwind" with seamless landing anywhere on the map.

- The FITS system, which allows changing character outfits and unlocking classic archetypes (Jobs), such as Black Mage or Warrior.
- Large-scale locations: the Mideel archipelago, the warrior nation of Wutai, and the frozen wastes of the Northern Continent.
