The Nintendo 64 Cult Classic Gets a Second Wind
The CEO of Blaze Entertainment, the company that produces the Evercade line of retro consoles, shared details about the development of native ports of the legendary 3D platformers Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.
According to him, the development team received the games' original source code directly from Rare studio. What's more, the creators of the original themselves took an active part in the adaptation process and made significant efforts to enrich the re-releases with additional features and new content.
What Is Known About the Updated Versions
- The games run natively directly on Evercade hardware, without using standard N64 emulation;
- Rare studio was directly involved in adding new features and optimizing gameplay;
- The ports will preserve the authentic atmosphere of the original while offering modern quality-of-life improvements.
