Returning to the roots of immersive sims
Harvey Smith, one of the most well-known developers in the industry and co-creator of iconic games in the immersive sim genre, has announced the launch of his own independent studio, Black Pony Immersive. Working with him on new projects will be other veterans of the closed Arkane Austin studio.
Smith has dedicated over thirty years to the gaming industry. Among his key achievements:
- Lead designer of the iconic original Deus Ex;
- Co-director of the first Dishonored;
- Creative director of Dishonored 2;
- Head of development at Arkane Austin.
Following the closure of Arkane Austin in 2024, the team decided to combine their efforts in a new independent format. Black Pony Immersive will focus on creating first-person action RPGs with deep systemic design and player freedom of choice.
