Diving into the Minds of Criminals
Publisher Idea Factory has announced the launch of a new visual novel brand, IFChronicle, whose first project will be the psychological crime detective ICONOLOGY for Nintendo Switch.
The game's story is being developed by writer Makoto Fukami, known for the hit anime PSYCHO-PASS and feature films Resident Evil: Vendetta and Death Island. The stylish visuals and character design were entrusted to artist Teita (Fate/Grand Order, CharadeManiacs).
Art as the Key to Investigation
The plot unfolds in the near future. To counter a new wave of brutal crimes, the Tokyo Police Department has established a secret unit. Their primary weapon is the "White Cube" device, capable of visualizing a suspect's hidden thoughts and traumas as abstract cognitive paintings.
The main protagonist, Haruho Tsubakiya, an art school student whose parents were killed by a serial killer ten years ago, becomes a special investigator. Her unique talent for analyzing paintings helps uncover the criminals' deepest secrets.
Key features of ICONOLOGY:
- White Cube Device: Decipher strange and eerie mind paintings of suspects to find clues that cannot be falsified.
- Choice Tree and Endings: Misinterpreting a canvas or making a mistake during interrogation can lead to dangerous plot twists and ruthless bad endings.
- Language Support: The game will feature English, Japanese, and Chinese localizations from launch.
The release date for ICONOLOGY on Nintendo Switch has not yet been announced.
